Latin America. The company Archimedia Technology presented version v2.1 of its Master Player system, an update of its software that accurately integrates all the common file formats in use today, with support for more than 80 external formats and more than 50 integrated formats.
The new version adds precise support for timed text, commonly known as closed titles or subtitles, regardless of the norm or vendor, a feature that is especially useful for media companies working with multiple standards and subtitle formats.
"We've been making incremental improvements to the Player since we launched it a year ago, which includes several intermediate steps that were necessary before it could cope with subtitles and their complexity. Now our customers can use the player to make sure their content is compliant, not only with FCC rules in the U.S., but also with the growing list of subtitling standards and standards from around the world," said Josef Marc, Chief Marketing Officer at Archimedia.
The function of titles and closed captions is necessary due to changes in regulations and consumer expectations. In the United States, subtitles are required by the FCC for all types of broadcasting and distribution, and the transition from videotape to file-based workflows of distribution and the Internet has resulted in various safeguard resolutions, and in turn a growing need for quality control to validate degrees and compliance.
This new feature for subtitles is free for all existing customers, who can get the update by downloading it from Archimedia's support site in support.archimediatech.tv
