Venezuela. 80% of the territory should be covered with the digital television signal by 2015, that is the goal that the Venezuelan government has set, which highlighted the support of Argentina for the implementation of this technology.
According to the schedule indicated by Manuel Fernández, Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, it will increase the coverage of the territory with digital television in Venezuela by 10% each year to 2015, ending 2013 with 60% and 2014 with 70% coverage.
Regarding Argentina's support for this process, the Minister stressed that thanks to them the deployment capacity was exceeded, with a television with higher quality, greater diversity, mobility and interactivity.
Since 2011, when the implementation of digital television began in this country, the transmission was made first in 13 cities, through a process that has been accompanied by the delivery, at no cost, of set-top boxes to low-income families.
According to Venezuelan government numbers, to date they have delivered 170,000 pieces of equipment. Distribution is being carried out in the communes and municipalities through the communal councils. Set-top boxes are delivered via CanTV.
