Chile. Although in Latin America there is no strict regulation on loudness, it is necessary to have a control if you want to market your own content internationally, especially with channels in the United States that since December must comply with strict regulation.
Thinking about that, the Chilean channel TVN adopted the audio control system of the German company Jünger. According to Mauricio Rojo, TVN's deputy director of engineering, they were looking for a flexible volume control solution.
"We already had a volume processor from another manufacturer, but we wanted something that was more flexible in the final audio chain and with a sophisticated algorithm that would allow us to deliver very high audio quality. Our international channel is available in Europe, the Americas and Oceania, so it is important that our programs comply with the legislation in force in those territories," he said.
After testing with different manufacturers, the one that best adapted to the needs of the chain according to its performance, was the Jünger reference unit T*AP. Thus, TVN improved its transmissions from its main facilities in Santiago, including its national channel, another 24-hour news channel and an international satellite channel.
The two units acquired by TVN from the T*AP, were supplied by Jünger Audio's distributor in Chile, Intervideo - Ingeniería y Telecomunicaciones Ltda. "Our sound engineers are very satisfied because their final mixes are controlled without compromising the aesthetics of the sound," concluded Mauricio Rojo.
