Venezuela. There were 13 cities chosen by the Venezuelan government to begin the trial period of digital television transmission in that country, which began this week, being cataloged as a historic day.
The person in charge of starting the trial period was the Executive Vice President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, who stressed that "this is the result of joint work with the governments of Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Brazil, it is a Mercosur project. In the very short term, every household in Venezuela will have ADD, the best television in the world and the best television in content."
For this period, public channels such as Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), Fundación Televisora de la Asamblea Nacional (ANTV) Vive TV, Televisora del Sur, Colombeia, 123 TV, and private channels such as Venevisión, La Tele, Meridiano and Televén joined.
The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Jorge Arreaza, exalted that the delivery of the TDA decoders is made free of charge to the communities, through the Technical Telecommunications Tables and the Communal Councils. "For the choice of the first beneficiaries, socio-economic conditions and those who lacked a subscription TV service were taken into account."
But this moment was not without controversy, pues the Globovisión channel denounced that despite having made the necessary procedures to be included in the digital television test project, the government excluded them and thus they would be decreeing their extinction at the time of the blackout of analog television.
