International. LG announced for the third week of May the launch of its new smart TV in the United States market, which will feature the Google TV operating system.
The company's directors announced that these televisions will be manufactured in Mexico, in the production plant that supplies 90% of the brand's equipment for that country and 80% of the United States market. In addition, they will have technical innovations such as remote control by voice and Qwerty keyboard.
Having the Google TV operating system means that consumers will be able to access Google searches from TVs, as well as Youtube videos, among many other options. The arrival of this equipment in other markets will depend directly on the behavior of sales in the US market.
With this TV, both Google and LG want to achieve the lead in the smart TV market, a segment that is waiting for the launch of Apple's operating system, for which there is no planned date.
According to the consulting firm IHS iSuppli, Internet television will grow by 60% by the end of 2012, compared to traditional television, for which they estimate a growth of only 2%.
