International. 2012 will be a difficult year for TV sales because consumers will prefer technological innovations that offer mobility for their entertainment. This is one of the conclusions of the market study carried out by the American consultancy Accenture.
According to data from the survey, called Electronics Consumer Trends 2012, consumers are increasingly using smartphones and tablets to access media and video-viewing apps.
He revealed that in a typical week, 48% of respondents watch cable TELEVISION, significantly lower than the results of the survey in 2009, when they were 71%.
In addition, the percentage of consumers who intend to buy a TV over the next 12 months dropped from 35% in 2010 to 32% in 2011. 55% said they will do so if the price was within their budget and 42% indicated that a TV with high definition resolution was an important consideration.
Only 25% cited 3D functionality as a desired capability of a new TV. Another 25% indicated that they would be more predisposed to buy a TV if the possibility of connecting to the web to access the internet and personal content is offered.
On the other hand, 53% of respondents said they own a smartphone, compared to 28% in 2010. Tablet ownership rose to 12% in 2011 compared to 8% the year before.
