According to studies by Sony Home Entertainment the sale of televisions with internet access will increase at the end of 2011, it is forecast that these models would cover 30% of the world market and possibly 47% by 2015.
Dave Morgan, an analyst at Simulmedia, said that Internet television service providers are still in the phase of developing attractive programming for consumers, "the television stations will make alliances and offer packages, which could cause a phenomenon like that of Europe, where the web movie service has displaced other markets, like that of video game consoles," said the expert.
This service for Latin America could come through the American company Netflix, which is interested in taking its platform to 43 countries in this region, even the Telemundo Internacional network already has agreements with Netflix that allows it to include more than one thousand two hundred hours of programming in the service.
Brazil and Mexico would be the pioneers of the region in this service, however, for the technology to be consolidated, it is necessary to increase the percentage of connectivity, and thus create new options in the field of telecommunications and in the nearly 500 million televisions that are in the world.
