Omneon announced that its Omneon Spectrum media server and MediaDeck server system now support XDCAM HD recordings with RDD9 MXF interoperability specifications.
This enhancement not only allows RDD9 content to be recorded directly on both servers but also allows content from the servers to be entered as a file on a Sony MPEG Long GOP device – camera, deck or editor – for immediate use or to archive it in a removable storage system.
According to Takashi Honda, XDCAM engineering manager at Sony, "The material can now move freely between different elements of the workflow, without the need to translate, transcode or repack. This reduces complexity and costs."
