Fast Forward Video introduced a firmware and codec update for its line of digital video recorders (DVRs) that allows direct import of JPEG2000 files.mov within non-linear editing systems such as Final Cut Pro.
All Fast Forward Video DVR systems support JPEG2000 compression codec for HD-SDI video recording without visual loss. Likewise, the company's Elite HD camera is the first in the industry to record in JPEG2000.
With the new update, the DVR creates a JPEG2000 file.mov which, together with Fast Forward Video's own QuickTime JPEG2000 component, allows direct import into non-linear editing systems such as Adobe Premier, Edius and Final Cut Pro. Now, downloading a file is a matter of connecting the DVR to the computer, via USB, and then dragging and dropping within a timeline.
Unlike previous processes that required converting JPEG2000 files to a supported format, the update allows operators to work with the original video file in the editing system.
