Colombian private broadcaster Caracol Televisión will now be able to monitor and adjust the volume levels of its HD broadcasts with the installation of Linear Acoustic's professional DIGITAL audio and metadata monitor LAMBDA.
LAMBDA displays audio and metadata, and enables simulation of metadata effects to provide precise control. A front control panel allows a quick procedure across any channel, pair of channels or mixes. The monitor incorporates the measurement of the eight audio channels in addition to numerical volume and metadata indication.
In addition to a numerical reading, a thin line indicates changes in volume measurement allowing quick verification of the intensity of the volume program. LAMBDA includes AES and HD/SD-SDI inputs, ITU-R BS.1770 volume measurement and an acoustically tuned speaker system with digital crossovers and bi-amplification, among others.
Although Caracol's broadcasts are currently in stereo only, the channel plans to switch to multichannel in the coming years. To help with this process and other issues associated with surround broadcasts, the station will in the future add a linear Acoustic aero.air 5.1 ten-channel volume control to control its audio workflow.
