FOR-A will present at NAB a color correction system for stereoscopic 3D material production applications. This is the CEQ-100HS Color Equalizer, an HD signal processor that allows you to adjust and monitor dual 3D signals live.
This device includes two frame synchronizers that allow 3D production with two independent cameras and that are generating asynchronous signals. The proposal of FOR-A is that after solving the mechanical problems of assembly, alignment and parallax each camera independently makes a color chart.
The Color Equalizer will use this reference to perfectly balance the signal of the two cameras, minimizing – or eliminating – the apparent differences in colorimetry and thus generating suitable material to achieve a good stereoscopic effect. This device works as a stereoscopic combiner for 3D monitoring that operates virtually in real time and includes diagnostic tools that allow to identify and solve problems of perspective and composition.
Additionally, the Color Equalizer includes resources to optimize the parallax adjustment of the cameras and thus be able to control the depth perception in the stereoscopic mixture. It also allows you to manipulate the input signals in 2D, so that it can operate as a parallax corrector to make minor adjustments during filming, this without the need to move the camera supports. The offices of the Color Equalizer will begin next June.
