Front Porch Digital supplied the news channel with its DIVArchive and DIVAdirector systems to manage, transfer, secure and allow access to the high volume of video clips that CNN receives daily.
CNN Chile broadcasts in hourly cycles and therefore many versions of the same news are required every day. Likewise, clips of important news should be available at any time for future broadcasts. Front Porch Digital's systems, installed by system integrator VGL, allow CNN editors to work on their desks in a familiar AVID environment to easily search, identify and retrieve content and make new versions or other changes.
The news network also relies on DIVArchive to transfer new content within the archive at the close of each 24-hour cycle. At the same time, the system automatically creates proxy versions of clips that are available to editors and producers. DIVArchive enables frame accuracy, partial restoration of clips from LTO discs or tapes, optimizes the use of time to make the system more efficient, and brings the efficiency of the work of individual users.
