Enablence Technologies Inc., a Canadian supplier of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) equipment for residential and commercial triple-play services (TV + Internet + telephony), and optical components and subsystems for the access, metropolitan and long-distance markets, obtained the status of certified supplier with Cablevisión Argentina, its largest customer to date in the Latin American market, to launch fiber-to-the-building (FTTB) services.
Cablevisión Argentina is the country's largest cable television provider with more than 3.2 million subscribers in 96 urban markets nationwide. Through the Fibertel brand, it offers high-speed Internet to companies in Buenos Aires and other regions of Argentina.
To respond to the growing demands of bandwidth and quality of service of its commercial customers, Cablevisión Argentina selected the TRIDENT7 Universal Access Platform, Enablence's representative product, optical line terminals, optical network terminals and the element management package. Initial expectations are that between 500 and 1,000 FTTB subscribers will connect. This adoption rate is expected to increase once TRIDENT7 has proven its value in the field. Cablevisión considers it to be the ideal platform for the launch of its FTTH services, including data, voice and IP video, to residential subscribers in new developments under the "Greenfield" concept.
