Rohde & Schwarz added a new family of high-power VHF transmitters to its product line. The R&S Nx8500 covers analog, digital and mobile television, as well as digital audio streaming. As a multi-standard platform, it can be used worldwide and updated to future standards, such as DVB-T2.
The 8000 transmitters use essentially the same components, allowing operators to take advantage of synergies for operation and for the storage of spare parts.
Liquid-cooled transmitters are designed for high transmission power in the VHF III band, as is normally required for basic coverage in broadcasting networks. In addition to analog television, the R&S Nx8500 transmitter supports DVB-T, ATSC, ISDB-T/ISDB-TB DTMB standards, and is prepared for DVB-T's successor standard, DVB-T2, as well as all types of mobile TELEVISION standards.
For digital audio transmission with DAB (+), which is also part of the portfolio, the transmitters achieve excellent signal quality with a modulation error rate (MER) of up to 33 dB. The transmitters provide an output power of up to 20 kW for analog television and 7.8 kW for COFDM standards.
