Within the framework of IBC, Avid introduced new versions of Media Composer (4.0), Symphony (4.0), the professional editing software NewsCutter (8.0) and the production file management system Interplay (2.0).
These solutions eliminate lengthy transcoding processes with the ability to mix and match different frame rates and resolutions in an open timeline in the same project. They also expand native support for file-based content with industry-leading formats such as Panasonic's AVC-I and Ikegami's GFCAM.
The enhancements also allow production teams to be more efficient by extending group work capabilities to the Wide Area Network (WAN), which enables journalists, producers and assistants to work anytime, from anywhere.
Media Composer, Symphony and NewsCutter now offer a wide range of new features, including: it allows customers to view 3D material from side to side, as well as top to bottom, to ensure greater accuracy of editing decisions and a wider selection of stereoscopic display monitors; HD and SD monitoring by reducing converted formats from 1080p24 masters, this enables customers using Mojo DX or Nitris DX to view HD material on an SD monitor, eliminating the need to incur additional hardware costs.
For its part, Interplay (2.0) allows broadcasters and post-production facilities to expand collaborative productions beyond the four walls of an enclosure, allowing customers to consolidate production operations, as well as the management of projects worked remotely. In addition, low-bandwidth streaming proxies allow you to work with content at any time from anywhere, through a qualified Mac or PC with a 1Mb/s Internet connection.
