The speakers invited to the DTV seminar, which organizes TV and Video, have a common denominator: experience. From their different specialties, each one has led processes of implementation, development and migration to digital technologies.
For two days, they will be present in conferences, practical workshops and panel discussions in which the aspects concerning digital television will be discussed in depth, from the planning process of operations and production and engineering, until the final transmission. In addition to Larry Thorpe, whose presentation we made in the last edition (see TVyVideo May/June, page 8), the presence of Mr. Steve Krant, Roberto Lauro, Luis Roges, Marcos Obadía, Jeffrey Cree, Edgardo Mosca, Andrés Riaño, Sergio Molho, is announced. Eloy Gutiérrez and Emilio Gañán. Here's a quick reference to some of them and the topics they'll address:
- Steve Krant: one of the most acclaimed speakers in the previous version of the seminar, returns with a talk that will raise the challenge posed by electronic media such as IPTV, cable, satellite, web, digital signage and mobile devices for broadcasters , and how to adapt to them. He will also discuss automation for multiple channels and review current and hypothetical content workflows, as well as some aspects to consider in planning future systems.
Krant was Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Sundance Digital from 1998 to 2007. He also worked in marketing of over-the-air graphics and signal processing solutions for companies such as Microtime, Digital F/X, Digital GraphiX and Pinnacle Systems. He has been a producer/director in public television and served in the U.S. Air Force in public relations, production and broadcasting.
- Roberto Lauro: is responsible for the digital migration of the national Retecapri network in Sardinia, Italy, and an active member of the Italia Digital commission created by the Ministry of Communications of that country for the transition process to DTV, planned for 2012. He was representative of the DVB-T Project for Latin America, from where he held conferences and tests in various countries of the region.
In the seminar, Lauro will talk about the analog blackout and the factors to be considered for the implementation of DTV in Colombia, as well as technical aspects of planning and specifications suggested to the receivers. It will also address issues of market, interactivity and mobility of the standard, as well as the novelties of DVB World 2009 and the necessary actions of communication to the population in the implementation process.
