To make it easier for its SD customers to transition to HD, Panasonic announced the immediate availability of its versatile 2/3" convertible AW-HE870N camera, which supports 1080i/720p/480i image capture.
With this wide range, the equipment is usable in a wide range of applications and light conditions, and is compatible with most motors for 2/3-inch zoom lenses, all current Panasonic Broadcast controllers, and many third-party systems. The HE870 offers a simple way to upgrade for HD, for thousands of SD camera users.
According to the manufacturer, the versatility, high quality of the video and cost effectiveness of the HE870, make it an idea equipment for use in education, government institutions, houses of religious worship, corporations, rental companies and others. The HE870 is the latest addition to Panasonic's line of convertible HD cameras, which includes the native 1080i resolution AKHC1800N and the high-performance AK-HC1500G.
The HE870's new 38 btis digital signal processor (DSP) and 14-bit A/D converter deliver super-clear images. The high sensitivity of the camera is rated at 2000 lux to f11, which gives it great capture potential in the most diverse lighting conditions.
The multi-format HE870 provides a switchable HD/SD output component at 1080/59.94i, 720/59.94p, or 480/59.94i, as well as composite SD. The optional AW-HHD870 card adds two distributed SDI (HD/SD switchable) outputs and a Zoom/Focus control port.
Other camera features include: shooting speeds at 1/100 to 1/10000 second, Syncro-Scan mode (61.19 Hz to 1466 Hz) to eliminate flicker when taking a TV screen or computer monitor, operation at 12V DC, and a low power consumption of 18 watts.
The camera weighs 2.6 pounds, and is the same size as the popular SD AW-E860 camera; it uses the same connectors and an updated version of the same remote control software. The HE870 is also compatible with Panasonic's extensive line of pan-tilt systems, including the AW-RP655, AW-RP555, AW-RP400 and AW-CB400 controllers, and the AW-H360, AW-PH400, AW-PH405 and AW-PH650 heads. It is also compatible with Fujinon and Canon 2/3" HD motorized lenses, and with peripherals from third-party manufacturers such as Telemetrics, Telescript and Telecast, among others.
