Omneon Inc. announced that TV Bandeirantes of Brazil installed its MediaGrid and Spectrum systems for hd news production workflow and support the playout of commercials and long-running programming. Systems integrator Brasvideo partnered with TV Bandeirantes to design the new Omeon systems as part of an upgrade mechanism that allows the network to accommodate continued growth in national distribution.
The first system is built on a platform that incorporates the Omneon MediaGrid storage system and spectrum media server, supporting the HD news workflow. Forty-six HD video sources are encoded to a Vizrt Viz Video Engine HD DVCPRO and, using an Ardendo asset management (MAM) system, transfer via FTP to an Omneon MediaGrid 82-TB storage system. Panasonic P2 DVCPRO HD camera clips are also transferred to the MediaGrid system at via FTP, and content from all sources is available to more than thirty Apple Final Cut Pro editors for instant editing with the Omneon MediaGrid system. The finished segments are transported by Ardendo, from the Omeon storage system to an eleven-channel Spectrum HD server for playback under Pebble Beach's automation control.
The second system in TV Bandeirantes, known as "display server", is mainly used to play commercials and long-running programming. This Spectrum SD/HD server operates under Harris' automation control and offers six ingest channels, 18 playback channels, and 5TB of storage.
