Sony is upgrading its line of high-definition HDC cameras intended for studio applications and live production. The new "R" Series continues Sony's innovations in CCD technology, combining its new 1080/60P image-forming optical block with a newly developed DSP processor specially designed to improve the digital signal process and round out focusing capabilities. The new
Models span a range ranging from high-speed cameras to multi-format cameras, including the HDC-1000R, HDC-1400R, HDC-1450R, HDC-1500R, HDC-1550R and HDC-3300R models. In addition, optional cards for the HDC-1000/1500 and HDC-1000R/1500R models will enable 3G capabilities to handle 1080/60P content more easily at speeds of 3 Gbps in digital fiber transmission.
The new CCD technology has been designed to achieve an output signal in extended bandwidth, a goal that can result in higher level performance especially in the upper frequencies of the 1080/60P and 1080/180i Super Motion systems. The R Series offers a 2 dB improvement in noise performance, with a "native" signal-to-noise ratio of 56 dB. Additionally, it incorporates a digital noise reduction circuit that allows to obtain 64 dB of signal-to-noise ratio. The new Auxiliary Focus Function allows you to focus using an auxiliary viewfinder that will add a new layer of trust.
