Litepanels, Inc., a manufacturer of LED lighting equipment for film and television, was awarded an Emmy Award for Technology and Engineering, conferred by the United States Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Litepanels accessories are used in a variety of television productions including high-profile shows such as Desperate Housewives, 24 and Without a Trace. This is the first time the Academy has awarded an Emmy statuette for television lighting technologies.
Litepanels equipment has become a staple in television production due to its versatility and its HD-appropriate light, which can be infinitely dimmed without any significant change in color temperature. They are also attractive for production studios since they consume less than 10% of the amount of energy needed by traditional lighting equipment, and practically do not generate heat.
The Technology and Engineering Emmy Award is given to the most outstanding achievements in technical developments for the industry. It can be obtained by individuals, companies or technical or scientific organizations for advances that represent an improvement in existing methods or are so innovative in nature that they have actually positively affected the transmission, recording or reception of television.
The statuette was delivered on August 22 at the Renaissance Hotel in Los Angeles, United States.
