During IBC, Thomson announced the expansion of its solutions video on demand (VoD) to enable network migration direct-to-home to hybrid architectures and capture the growing video on demand market.
To enable this migration from pure broadcast to hybrid networks, Thomson presented at IBC a solution of end-to-end based on your service platform SmartVision, which handles the preparation of VoD content, monetization and delivery, combined with THOMsuite, the solution for set-top boxes with embedded software.
In a hybrid environment, the combination of SmartVision and THOMsuite allows voD to be pushed into the set-top box on top broadcast or pulled channels over the broadband line if is available and offers a transparent path of evolution from pure broadcast networks to hybrid networks, which helps broadcasters to protect your existing investment in boxes of set-top when they launch VoD.
On top of this turnkey system offering, SmartVision and THOMsuite propose a Flash-based portal that allows a user experience beyond what is available in other networks.
