Shotoku Broadcast Systems recently supplied a crane system for Caracol Televisión's virtual studios in Colombia. Likewise, the company sold the Ecuadorian operator Digital Plus a significant amount of camera mounts.
In Caracol, shotoku's equipment was acquired in conjunction with a suite of technologies for virtual studios, from Vizrt. New equipment is being integrated into the production workflow while staff become familiar with it.
"I wanted to have the Shotoku brand in our facility for a long time. The result was as expected, it is very robust and produces fluid and precise movements... and it's being well accepted by our operators," said Yesid Guerra, the channel's engineering director.
The TK-59VR crane is equipped with shotoku's TV-03A pan/tilt head. Both are configured for virtual studio operation with high-precision encoders and an interface that offers data compatible with all virtual reality systems to ensure smooth and accurate synchronization of virtual elements.
For its part, Digital Plus, a provider of production and transmission services – especially for football games played in Ecuador – recently inaugurated the first HD mobile transmission unit in Ecuador, of which there are only four in South America.
The purchase of Digital Plus from Shotoku includes six sets of TDA-100 tripods, SGL-100 floor separators and high-performance SH120 pan/tilt heads designed to carry more than 25kg. In addition, two teams, each with a TT-17 tripod, a Dolly TD-13 and a TE-23 head for cameras over 60 kg.
