Telemundo Communications Group became the sole owner of Telemundo-RTI Producciones and acquired the operational assets of its current distributor international, Tepuy International.
Telemundo-RTI Producciones will work from now on under the name of Telemundo Television Studios, while Tepuy will do it under the Telemundo International. Patricio Wills, until now president of Telemundo-RTI Producciones, will assume the same position in Telemundo Television Studios, while Marcos Santana, who came serving as president of Tepuy, will lead Telemundo International.
Telemundo Television Studios will continue with its task of producing content for its chain of television of the same name Telemundo, while Telemundo International will be in charge of the promotion and marketing of its productions in the international market.
The purchase responds to the desire of the group to take full control over the fate of the producer in order to position it competitively in the market international and continue to grow, said Patricio Wills.
Telemundo-RTI Productions had was the fruit of the alliance, in 2003, between Telemundo, a unit of NBC's Spanish-language television, and Colombian production company RTI, chaired at that time by Patricio Willis.
