In order for its religious transmissions to reach an increasingly attractive and higher quality format, the Universal Church of Argentina renewed its Sony equipment, adding four 12-bit DXC-D50WSP studio cameras and an MFS 2000 switcher to its set of Sony products that it already used (a DVS 9000 digital video mixer).
With this new technological scaffolding, the Universal Church enters the digital age. Sony solutions offer a high quality of video, and allow you to make countless copies practically without losing the original quality.
The DXC-D50WSP digital cameras have a 1.5-inch viewfinder, tripod adapter and microphone. They share with their standard companions a new type of CCD sensor Power HAD EX, which almost eliminates the vertical "smear" effect in the bright spots of the image. All this, together with a 12-bit A/D conversion and a new digital signal processor, guarantees an unsurpassed image quality in its kind.
The DXC-D50 series are highly sensitive studio cameras, which can work with a very low level of illumination (just 0.5 lux; gain of 36 dB, F1.4), which implies a remarkable saving in energy consumption. They also have a very low noise level of 63 dB (PAL).
While the DCX-D50WSP are professional cameras, their ergonomic design and simplification of handling make them easily operable. Its two "EZ functions" allow the operator to start recording quickly and with minimal configuration. The camera is ready to record at the push of the EZ Mode button. Thus, the settings of the basic parameters (standard mode or automatic mode) are selected instantly.
Another acquisition was the MFS 2000 switcher, a very compact, low-cost, 3RU-sized multi-format switch-mixer, suitable not only for production studios and editing sets but also for outdoor events, as it is portable.
"The MFS 2000 mixer facilitates multi-format production in the field when you have a small budget or limited space (for example in mobile units). And it has a menu similar to that of other Sony mixers," explains Jorge Mompo, Sales Manager of Sony Latin America. The MFS-2000 adds another advantage: it makes it possible to migrate to high definition with just one software update.
