Sundog Films acquires its second eQ

Installed in Miami, Quantel's multi-resolution workstation is the basis on which the company proposes its access to the Latino market. The purchase of the eQ system for editing, effects, color grading and mastering responds to the growing adoption by the Latin American market of HD.

Sundog Films, a company based in Toronto, Canada, which already in 2002 was the first to install an eQ in North America, has purchased a second unit of the system which will be the axis of the business offer in its new subsidiary, Sundog South, recently installed in Miami.

As is already the case with your Counterpart located in Toronto, Sundog South points to the markets for feature films, television programs and advertising. The success of Sundog South since its recent opening has been such that enlargement reforms have already been carried out, so that the company now houses more than 900 square meters of stages for filming and motion control, as well as a whole range of video, audio and 3D post-production resources.

The Latin market is starting to grow a lot, explains the President of Sundog Wayne Trickett, while Ricardo García, partner and manager of Sundog South, he adds, We have already done a lot of work on the eQ, including work for BMW, BellSouth and Directv L.A., all destined for markets in South America and Mexico, in addition, of course, from the southern United States, which has an audience of very considerable Spanish speaking. On the other hand, HD too it starts to take hold around here, so it has all the sense to consolidate our operations around the eQ, thanks to its multi-resolution capabilities. At the same time, that unity works as the link between all our other machines, already that allows communication between them.

Sundog is one of the few companies that have survived the ups and downs of the post-production industry for more than 30 years.Which is the secret? You have to be reinventing yourself all the time, Trickett says, you have to evaluate constantly new hardware and software, new methods and new markets. And, above all, you must take care of your customers. That it means that you never do a job that is right, but you seek to make it almost perfect. We have clients working with us since 1971, so I believe that our philosophy works. Our new eQ is part of that conception of our work.

Recently, Quantel announced that the Peruvian company High End also acquired an eQ sisema with the QColor option (the first of its kind in America Latina) for its HD post-production facilities.
