Thanks to the latest coverage extension almost 42.5 millions of citizens have at their disposal the signal of the Digital Terrestrial Television.
According to the latest data collected by the Observatory of Impulsa DTT, 92.38% of Spaniards already have coverage of Digital Terrestrial Television in their homes.
The data, offered by the network operator Abertis Telecom, represents an increase in coverage of just over 3.1% in recent years five months. That is, since August 2008, more than 1.4 million of citizens have gone from not receiving DTT to being spectators potential of the new Digital Terrestrial Television.
To date, DTT coverage in Spain is one of the europe's largest and allows almost 42.5, of the 46 million Spaniards, receive the signal of Digital Terrestrial Television in their homes, as long as they have a tuner and have adapted their collective antenna. In addition, it should be noted that this coverage data does not include the executed extensions by operators other than Abertis, so the coverage Real could be even above that 92.38%.
The evolution of DTT coverage in Spain is regulated by the National DTT Technical Plan and establishes a general timetable for enlargement setting out the establishment of the same in six phases. That plan provides that on 31 December 2008 coverage of all national and regional broadcasters should stand at 90%, a figure that has been exceeded loosely in more than two points.
In this way all four have already been completed correctly first phases of increased coverage and confirmation of the good progress of the process.
