Thomson made a presentation in Bogotá in which he exhibited part of its product line and production schemes and transmission for digital television. The visit took place within the framework of joint meetings between the company and the Ministry of Communications of Colombia, in order to share some experiences and tips on digital migration. Beside recall that Colombia announced last year the adoption of the European standard of dvb-digital television.
Among the products shown was the line of Elite transmitters that comes from the company Thales, acquired by Thomson two years ago. The Elite family of Transmitters are available in two power ranges: the high-power, liquid-cooled models (800W RMS to 22 KW RMS) and medium power models, air-cooled (120W RMS at 1200W RMS). Each model shares a number of advantages, including modular construction for easy maintenance, compact construction and high availability.
According to company spokespersons, in the United States they have sold Elite 1000 transmitters in 14 stations with powers of 1.9kw to 22kw.
They also presented Thomson's suite of solutions for mobile TV that includes products from start to finish, from production to transmission.
