Tektronix announced significant improvements to its waveform monitors and rasterizers, which can be applied to systems currently in use through updates available on the firm's website.
As announced by the firm during NAB, for the first time in the industry its instruments offer simultaneous decoding and monitoring of Closed Captioning data CEA-708 and CEA-608, complying with a recent requirement of the FCC, Federal Communications Commission of the United States. The units also support Active Format Description (AFD) monitoring and CGMS-A/Broadcast Flag data decoding and monitoring.
For multi-channel audio, the new Dolby E Guard Band monitoring provides the user with an intuitive bar display that makes it easy to locate problems. Similarly, new black screen and frozen image detection alarms help transmitters and network operators more effectively diagnose typical process problems. Current customers of the brand will find free firmware updates to applicable equipment from June.
