Colombian meeting of university channels

The event, held from May 21 to 23 in Bogotá, revolved around the new channel, U TV, and the objectives, production, grid design, broadcast, audience, financing mechanisms and management of a university channel.

From May 21 to 23, the XI National Meeting of University Channels, organized by the Central University. The event brought together 130 participants between channel representatives, media unit directors university students, television and film students, filmmakers independents and members of the academic community, around topics such as lenses, production, grill design, emission, audience and management of a university channel.

For Germán Pérez, director of the Unit ad de Audiovisual Media of the Central University, entity organizer, the proposed objective was met, which it was to reflect, think and discuss around the theme of production, programming and channel management University.

The Meeting also served as a framework for the presentation of the channel first national university channel, U TV, and the first ethnic television channel Kakuamo. U TV, which broadcasts currently by cable in test signal, brings together 53 Colombian universities and seeks, among other purposes disseminate academic production and be a training center for the country's future television producers. Yes universities, beyond the differences that separate them, come together to develop projects of this type, such as the Encuentro, as the university channel, we will be able to open a space of participation to the Colombian youth, to the students, to universities, Perez said.

Among the speakers participated filmmakers and television, as Lisandro Duque, Mauricio Acosta and Mauricio Tamayo Tamayo; experts in the field of television, such as Luis Felipe Cardona del Real; representatives of foreign channels, as Eva Villareal, Deputy Director General of Production and Programming of Channel 22 of Mexico, and Isleni Cruz, of the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain; and managers of national university channels.

Sony participated in turn as part of the commercial exhibition and with the introduction of the PMW-EX1 YHVR-HD1000N camcorder, the HVR-DR60 duo disc burner, and LMD-2450W monitors and LMD-2050W, among other products.
