Avanto, located in Silicon Valley, claims to have a technology that scans one million minutes of video in five seconds with 99% effectiveness in finding content not authorized by the author.
The ContentID uses a perceptual technology of signatures that simulate human vision and identify scenes, objects and movements within the video. To do this, it uses a set of computer vision algorithms that is already solid against evasion techniques such as transcoding (format of conversion video), loss of resolution, the geometric distortion and video editing. Works with audio track independence.
According to Anvato, the ContentID can be used to put ads based on video content and also contains a series of tools to create discreet ads around of the video.
The product has been used in the last six months to search for violations in 20 prime time programs and, in just one week, it detected more than 2,000 videos viewed about six million times on sites like YouTube, Veoh and DailyMotion.
Anvato claims that its goal is not to block access to consumers to content, but to facilitate business models sustainable for content owners and distributors, which will allow them to decide how to handle violations.
