Colombia. Taking advantage of the growth in audiovisual and film production that the city of Medellín has had in recent years, the rental company Congo Films and the local channel Telemedellín, have decided to join forces and resources to facilitate the productions that are made in the city.
With this alliance, Congo Films will have permanent equipment in Telemedellín, which join the studio's facilities for the rental offered by the Channel, as well as the different locations in the city.
In conversation with TVyVideo+Radio, Vanessa Palacio, manager of Telemedellín, stressed that "Telemedellín is more than a channel. Today we not only generate content and we are multiplatform. We also want to be a great ally for productions, for production companies, because we have the physical and human capacity to do so. We have installed capacity in terms of television studio and equipment, spaces in our park channel that is developed to be the great headquarters of productions in Medellín and trained personnel."
He added that "Today this great alliance with Congo Films, will allow all productions that are made in Medellín and require services, technology and equipment, to be invoiced by Telemedellín and thus can access the incentives offered by the Mayor's Office of Medellín with return on the investment that is made. We hope that there will be more and more supply in the city and more productions will be filmed in Medellín."
For her part, Daniela Cortés, commercial director of Congo Films, told TVyVideo+Radio that this alliance opens up a market that has been growing over the years. "Congo already works with clients from Medellín and always has to bring the equipment from Bogotá. Being able to make the industry grow in Medellín makes us very happy, especially with the help of a great ally like Telemedellín."
In Medellín, Congo Films will have equipment such as lights, grip and support permanently available in Telemedellín, while the cameras and optics will be brought from Bogotá for each project. It will also initially have a base of two trucks in the city, which will be able to supply certain types of projects.
Vanessa Palacio concluded that "We want to be protagonists of this audiovisual cluster of Medellín, where we not only generate content, we also help others to do it."
