Teleantioquia, the first regional public channel, celebrates its 40th anniversary

Teleantioquia, primer canal público regional, cumple 40 años

Colombia. About 40 years ago, on August 11, 1985, Teleantioquia turned on its signal for the first time to become the first regional public channel in the history of Colombia.

It was a moment that not only gave life to regional television, but also opened a new page in the history of media in the country, laying the foundations for other regions to imagine their own audiovisual story.

Since then, Teleantioquia has witnessed and played a leading role in key moments that have marked the lives of the people of Antioquia and the country, among which are great challenges and opportunities, to mention a few: the blackout of '92, the birth of the Medellín Metro, the rise of the social movement in the regions, the transformation of the city, the Pan American Games, and more recently, the feats of our Paralympic athletes and the explosion of local digital talent.

Throughout these four decades, the channel has produced iconic formats in humorous, educational and entertainment themes, as well as sports and information. Profiles with Pacheco, Enlace, Recórcholis, La Grúa, Serenata, Musinet, Caja de sorpresas, Solo para adolescentes, Relatos de Viaje, Modos & Moda, Teleantioquia Noticias with its network of correspondents, 45 minutos and more recently, InfluenSer, La Doctora Sara and Cosiaca, the mega production with which it celebrates the 40th anniversary, are just some of the high-quality content that has left its mark on our audiences.

A forward-looking strategic transformation
With multiplatform content, that is, offered through the main screen, the Web and social networks, Teleantioquia has been consolidating itself as the most watched public channel in Colombia, registering a cumulative audience of more than 8.9 million unique viewers during 2024, according to Kantar Ibope Media. But that leadership did not stay on traditional television.

The channel began a profound transformation, aligned with its strategic plan: the evolution from a television channel to a relevant digital medium with a television channel. A commitment that not only reflects the innovative spirit that has always characterized Teleantioquia, but also responds to new forms of content consumption.

The results of this digital transformation are overwhelming:

In the last year, 800 thousand new people joined our community, accumulating more than 4.4 million followers. All of this growth has been 100% organic, without guidelines, driven exclusively by content that connects.

From a reach of 4 million people, we went to more than 20 million accounts
only reached in the last month of July.

Thanks to the technological modernization of the process, in www.teleantioquia.co, we went from 296 thousand monthly visits to more than 2 million, according to the record figure recorded in this new era.

All of the above is also ratified by the recent report of the Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies on digital navigation, where Teleantioquia is positioned in first place in the ranking, multiplying approximately 8.5 times the figures in second place.

The commitment to the commercialization of high-quality digital content, providing multiplatform alternatives to brands and purposes for their positioning and promotion, marks another milestone for Teleantioquia. This performance is no coincidence. It is the reflection of strategic processes, a clear commitment to technology as an enabler, a focus on the production of relevant content and a team committed to building community beyond the screen.

40 years connecting who we are
In this celebration of four decades, Teleantioquia not only honors his legacy, but also reaffirms its purpose: to connect who we are to project what we will be. Today, it is much more than a channel. It is a modern, creative, multi-format and multi-channel public media that proudly represents the identity of Antioquia, while projecting its talent, culture and vision to the world.

The path of transformation is just beginning, but the message is clear: Teleantioquia connects. It connects people, regions, emotions, and ideas. And it will continue to do so, now stronger than ever.

The celebration
As part of the celebration, the channel will have an event on Saturday, August 9 with musical presentations and will end with one of its flagship programs: Serenata 40 años edition.

Starting on August 11, the day of the birthday, it will offer content and special programming around 40 wonderful years on the air.
