Colombia. The Ministry of Culture, Recreation and Sports of Bogotá and Proimágenes Colombia announce an alliance for more than $3,400 million Colombian pesos, (about US$845,000) to strengthen the audiovisual and digital ecosystem of the city. The agreement contemplates different actions for the audiovisual sector, and includes the realization of the Convergent People event at BAM 2025.
This joint investment, which will be made within the framework of Gente Convergente, the district administration's program (led by the Secretariat of Culture, Recreation and Sports of Bogotá) that seeks to consolidate the city as a major hub for digital creation in Latin America, aims to promote the creation, production and circulation of audiovisual and digital content in the capital.
Gente Convergente fuses culture, technology, and community into an innovative platform that transforms Bogotá's digital landscape and reinforces its role as a competitive hub for the region's cultural and creative industries.
The alliance with Proimágenes Colombia represents a decisive step to take this vision to a new scale, connecting local talent with international circulation networks, strengthening technical and creative capacities, and generating content with high export potential.
Between July 14 and 18, the Colombian capital will celebrate the second edition of this program, during the 16th Bogotá Audiovisual Market - BAM, one of the most important stages for the audiovisual industry in Latin America. This event will bring together the digital creative ecosystem in an exclusive tent in the Modern Gymnasium, where interactive experiences will be developed.
The BAM will have the participation of international experts in animation, video games and immersive experiences, and will function as a platform for visibility, promotion and strategic connection between local creators, institutions, companies and potential co-producers. With this alliance, Bogotá reaffirms its leadership in the digital creative sector, strengthening its cultural industries as an engine of economic development, identity and social transformation.
With an investment of $2,650 million pesos by the Ministry of Culture, and a contribution in kind from Proimágenes for $848 million pesos, the agreement will be in force until December 31, 2025. Its execution focuses on five key components ranging from the production of an animated series and immersive content, to specialized training, international promotion and participation in strategic events in the sector.
For Claudia Triana de Vargas, director of Proimágenes Colombia, the alliance "represents a boost to Colombian talent, by opening paths to new technologies and strengthening the digital transition of the audiovisual sector. It is a commitment to training in convergent narratives and the exploration of new formats that will enhance the creativity and professionalism that characterize our industry."
One of the pillars of the alliance is the development of an innovative animated series, in which each episode will be produced by a different studio in Bogotá. The second component of the agreement is focused on advancing in the development stage of a high-impact immersive experience. Likewise, and with the aim of making Bogota's talent visible in specialized markets, an international promotion strategy will be designed aimed at the animation, video games and immersive content sectors.
