Spain. After its editions in Argentina, Colombia and Mexico, "Chromatón - Iberoamérica" landed in Madrid with a new video podcast, networking sessions and a shower of awards.
The event was held last Friday, June 13, with Madrid being the venue for the largest event for colorists held to date in Spain. With more than 110 attendees, the day began with the launch of Diego Yhamá's new video podcast, El viaje del color, which had as a special guest the renowned colorist Chema Alba, from Deluxe Madrid.
Chema Alba, whose career includes Oscar-nominated films such as The Snow Society, Pain and Glory and Klaus, spoke live about his beginnings, the challenges of his professional career and his relationship with the famous director Pedro Almodóvar.
After the interview, a networking session was held that brought together students from the post-production master's degrees, young promises of color and representatives of some of the most renowned studios in Spain. It was a propitious space to share experiences and connect in person with leaders in the sector that many follow on social networks.
The event closed with a long-awaited raffle of prizes valued at more than 15,000 euros. Attendees were able to win color consoles, licenses, courses, exclusive discounts, and more.
According to organizers Diego Yhamá, Javier Guevara and Ana Valverde: "The need to unite the world of color in Ibero-America has been latent for years. Today, Chromaton has become a key vehicle to achieve that union. We don't just share the language; We also share a story that crosses us as people and is reflected in our cinema. We believe that this event is a great platform for interaction between professionals, platforms and companies in the sector."
The presence of giants such as Netflix and Amazon, color studios such as Deluxe, Picnic, Misterio, GradePunk, X-Post, El Colorado and Elora, as well as film schools such as The Core, ECAM and Voxel School, generated an ideal ecosystem to strengthen ties and face, in an organic way, the new challenges of the audiovisual market in Spain.
The first Chromathon held in Spain was not only a resounding success: it was a demonstration that, when the industry unites, great things are achieved. And that is exactly what happened in Madrid.
The event was made possible thanks to the sponsorship of EFD Studio, Flanders Scientific, Nacho Mazzini Family, Trigital, Maxon, GradePunk and The Core School; and the support of Deluxe Spain, Picnic, Colorfront, XPost, Misterio Colorlab, Estudio Roco, Atika, Better Call Us, Emissary Pictures and the ECAM and with awards from Blackmagic design, Borisfx, Colourlab among others
