Latin America. Jai Alai, known as Basque Pelota, continues to expand its global reach, attracting new generations and consolidating itself as a high-intensity sporting spectacle.
The Dania Beach Casino became the venue for the Biscayne Cup, the sport's first international tournament, which brought together the best players in a high-level competition broadcast live from South Florida to Spain.
Given the growing expectation in Spain for the final of the tournament, EITB, the regional channel of the Basque Country, organized a tender to guarantee a broadcast-quality broadcast in the United States. LiveMedia Ibérica was awarded to carry out the international broadcast, entrusting the executive production in Florida to Link Miami Video Agency, experts in the coverage of live sporting events.
Technology and creativity to capture the excitement of Jai Alai
The focus of the production was on conveying the excitement of the game, the speed of the ball and the energy of the players. To achieve this, an innovative 7-camera staging was designed that included PTZ cameras installed in protective boxes with
creative angles, plus a special protective box for on-court cameramen. The coverage was complemented by gimbals and broadcast cameras strategically placed to capture every moment of the action.
In order to bring the intensity of the final closer to the audience, the players used microphones to broadcast live their expressions, the real sound of the game and the demanding dynamics on the court.
A fully equipped mobile unit was used for production, with differentiated work areas for each production team; director, audio, EVS, PTZ, etc., ensuring efficient operation and optimal workflow among all crew.
Given the relevance of the service, the international broadcast was planned with full redundancy using a LiveU LU800 unit and a C-band DSNG, integrating a coordinated transmission plan between the United States and Spain. The technical teams of Livemedia Ibérica in Spain and Link Miami in the United States, worked together to ensure a solid, stable and high-quality signal throughout the Biscayne Cup final.
This coverage reaffirms LiveMedia Ibérica's ability to produce high-level sporting events, combining creativity, innovation and advanced technology with its partner in Florida: Link Miami.
Both companies are grateful for the trust placed by EITB in the production of a transcendental event for sport and the international audience.
