Argentina. The exhibition "A Building Between Two Worlds" was inaugurated at the Palacio Libertad (formerly the Central Post Office) in Buenos Aires, with the aim of providing the public with content on the history of telecommunications in the country.
"A Building Between Two Worlds" is an exhibition of free access, designed to offer content on the history of the building located at Sarmiento 151 (CABA) in a didactic and dynamic way; as well as recovering the past of the old post office and turning it into the present and the future.
Within the framework of the inauguration, the comptroller of the National Communications Entity (ENACOM), Juan Martín Ozores, highlighted the importance of giving a place to the historical heritage of telecommunications in Argentina.
In this sense, he explained: "Today we open a new space for these goods, making them available to everyone so that we can know them and know more about them, and therefore, more about ourselves. To learn more about the history behind each of these devices, behind each photograph, and thus learn a little more about the uses and customs of our ancestors through these objects. The history that this heritage tells us, is and builds our present; but in addition, it exemplifies and demonstrates the inevitable advance towards a future-proof Nation."
"The exhibition is a didactic and dynamic exhibition of the history of telecommunications, which seeks to recover the past of the old mail and turn it into the present and the future. And there is no better place to do this than the Liberty Palace, a unique and emblematic building in the history of communications in the country. Holding this exhibition in this place is a way of paying tribute to the historical heritage of these objects in the history of telecommunications in Argentina," concluded Ozores.
The exhibition aims to be an exploration between the past of the old Palacio de Correos y Telégrafos and its new contemporary spaces. Through videos, photographs, documents, objects presented in installations, the project conceived at the end of the nineteenth century and its current functionalization are recovered.
The proposal seeks to make the visitor feel and understand why they are in a unique place, immersed in an impressive spatiality. Among the museum's assets will be mailboxes, telegraphs, radio receivers and microphones, switches, telephones and telephone books, among many other objects, which were housed in the Postal, Telegraphic and Telecommunications Museum.
"A Building Between Two Worlds" can be visited from Wednesday to Sunday and holidays from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. until December 31, 2025. It is a face-to-face exhibition for the general public of all ages.
