Chile. The National Television Council's Fund for the Promotion of Quality Programming Production opens its 2025 call for proposals aimed at audiovisual producers.
"The National Television Council has implemented important improvements in the application process for the CNTV 2025 Fund, with the aim of reducing barriers to entry, strengthening the competitiveness of projects and expanding their impact on the audiovisual industry. The CNTV Fund has been a fundamental pillar for the development of quality productions in our television," said CNTV President Mauricio Muñoz.
He added that "With this new call, we reaffirm our commitment to support projects that reflect the diversity of our country, amplify regional voices and provide content that connects with audiences. We want open television to continue to be a space for meeting, reflection and creativity, where stories that represent all of us are told."
By 2025, this fund has a total sum of $5,046,573,000, according to Law No. 21,722, on Public Sector Budgets. This amount will be allocated in the following Competitive Lines of the CNTV Fund:
-Historical Series or Historical Documentaries
-Fiction
-Non-Fiction
-Regional Origin Programs
-Local or Local Community Origin Programs
-Programs Aimed at the Preschool Public from 3 to 6 years old
-Programs Aimed at Children from 7 to 12 years old
-New Seasons of Programs Already Funded by the Fund
Innovations
These modifications were the result of a work process that included meetings with industry unions and on-site training.
Simplifying the application process
The number of documents required has been reduced: now only three documents will be requested to apply and five in the case of the Community Projects line. This change facilitates access and promotes greater participation in the contest.
Increase in the number of chapters per project
Now, each project must have at least four chapters, with the exception of the historical line, which is maintained with a minimum of two. This measure responds to programming criteria to increase the competitiveness, scope and impact of productions.
More objective and specialized evaluations
The technical, financial, content and artistic quality evaluations will have new, objective parameters aligned with the standards of the audiovisual industry.
A new system for selecting evaluators will be implemented.
Expansion of co-production
History
The CNTV Fund, since its first award in 1993, has awarded more than 450 audiovisual productions, including successful and iconic projects on Chilean TV such as: "31 Minutes", "The Eighties", "The Cardinal's Files", "The Replacement", "A Necessary Story", "What Do You Dream Of", "The Red Child", "No", "The Mole Agent", "Violeta Went To The Skies", "Inés del Alma Mía", "Isabel", "Neruda" and "El Bosque de Karadima".
Throughout its history, the CNTV Fund has been key in promoting children's programming on open television with programs such as "Hola Flinko", "Petit", "Raffi", "Puerto Papel" and many others. Also in the promotion of programs of regional origin where 30% of the funds are allocated preferentially to these programs regardless of the line in which they are applied.
Until 2024, the co-production could only be international. Now, it will be possible to make both national and international co-productions. This change recognizes co-production as a key strategy for audiovisual development in Chile and the world.
Incorporation of the Videopitch
The Videopitch is added as a valid audiovisual format to present, justify and support the applicant projects.
Increased training support
Training instances will be strengthened to facilitate the application process and improve access to this important public policy.
New opportunities for community channels
For the first time, community channels will be able to develop live and time-honored programs, expanding their production capacity and content offerings.
The 2025 application process for the CNTV Fund will take place until April 21.
