Broadcast Depot brought low-cost solutions to Latam

Broadcast Depot, danilo bautista

Latin America. 2023 has been a difficult year in Latin America. Among the political and economic issues, investments in broadcast technology were affected. To address this situation, distributor Broadcast Depot focused on providing solutions to the needs of the industry, but at a low cost.

Danilo Bautista, the company's sales director, told TVyVideo+Radio that "We have been able to provide low-cost solutions that fill certain applications without having to spend a lot of money. So, in that way, we have managed to compensate for the economic downturn in many countries, meeting the sales targets for the year. So you can say that, despite all the needs and problems that there were in the region, it was a positive year, particularly for us."

Among the markets in the region that have stood out this year for Broadcast Depot are the Dominican Republic, where the deadline for the digital transition to ATSC television has arrived. Television channels had the need to make investments, which brought many projects.

"It's not just changing the transmitter, but it's changing the studios, redesigning, because you're practically relaunching your TV channel. Thanks to that, we were also able to sell some systems for virtual production, with green screens. That brought us not only the transmission part, but also the study part," added Danilo Bautista.

Another important market was Chile, where the 2023 Pan American Games were held. There they integrated a Telos Infinity intercom system for the production company Vivaro, as well as production projects in Miami, where local production has grown considerably, in part, due to the arrival of Lionel Messi in the city.

Regarding the most in-demand technology trends in the region this year, the Broadcast Depot representative highlighted that LiveU continues to be the product that people request the most.

"The brand has continued to evolve its product line, now it is developing solutions to do production in the cloud, so that, again, it seeks to lower costs and make the production flow more effective. The intercom part of Telos Infinity works very well. The feedback we had in Chile was exceptional because of the sound quality. Telos comes from audio production at radio stations, where audio is the main thing. Live production with green screens has also generated a lot of revenue and a lot of attention, with our Quimera solution," he said.

Finally, he stressed that they are positive for 2024, mainly in Mexico, where they have just made an alliance with the company One Media, to expand their proposal to the Mexican market. One Media is now a distributor of part of its core brands, such as LiveU, Quimera, Telos and Axel.

"We know that Mexico next year is going to be a very important year. Elections, Copa America, World Cup qualifiers are coming. So we believe that Mexico is going to be a very thriving market for next year," concluded Danilo Bautista.
