Colombia. The communities of 170 municipalities applied for the 002 call of 2023 for the viability of licenses for Mintic community radio stations, with the aim of bringing the sound broadcasting service to their municipality.
The 300 proposals were submitted by organized communities located in 26 departments of the country, as follows: Antioquia, 17; Atlantic, 23; Bolívar, 19; Boyacá, 60; Caldas, 7; Caquetá, 3; Casanare, 1; Cauca, 21; Caesar, 3; Chocó, 4; Cordoba, 10; Cundinamarca; 15; Huila, 9, La Guajira, 2; Magdalena, 4; Meta, 11; Nariño, 35; Norte de Santander, 11; Putumayo, 4; Risaralda, 2; Santander, 3; Sucre 2; Tolima, 22; Valle del Cauca, 7; Vichada, 4, and Amazonas, 1.
"Community radio is the voice of the people. For this reason, we have placed special interest in the country's communities having this service, which becomes a tool for development and access to opportunities for education, culture, information and economic growth," said the ICT Minister, Mauricio Lizcano.
The call for community radio stations offers 185 broadcasting channels for the same number of municipalities. This continues with the analysis of the proposals presented, and on November 17 the preliminary verification report will be published for comments, in which it will be announced which proposals meet the requirements and which communities will have to correct some of the conditions.
