Brazil. EPTV, a subsidiary of TV Globo, replaced its microwave network solution with IP/SRT transmission protocols with MediaKind technology. EPTV will implement MediaKind edge video processing solutions to provide better quality, security and reliability for video contribution and distribution over the open Internet at a reduced cost.
As the number of broadcasters adopting IP streaming increases, the MediaKind solution promises to improve EPTV's return on investment by providing superior performance at a highly cost-effective operating price. MediaKind's edge processing portfolio includes decoding, encoding, transcoding, content replacement, content protection, and more reliable transport of high-quality, critical TV content, enabling live cloud workflows.
The implementation of MediaKind's CE1 contribution encoder and RX1 multi-service and multi-codec professional receiver decoder solution enables EPTV to implement integrated bidirectional codecs across all its stations. This will ensure greater security and peace of mind with the IP/SRT protocol that offers high-quality video performance, 4:2:2 HEVC compression and very low latency, all within a platform that integrates an IP/SRT gateway.
José Francisco Valencia, EPTV's Director of Engineering, said: "After much deliberation and evaluation, we selected MediaKind to integrate the contribution and distribution of signals from our stations using the Internet and IP/SRT protocols. Integrating all solutions, including the SRT gateway with HEVC encoders and decoders, allows us to deliver a low-latency, reliable and cost-effective solution while meeting our OPEX and CAPEX goals."
Juan Pizarro, senior sales director at MediaKind, said: "EPTV is leading the way in Brazil by implementing MediaKind RX1 and CE1 products. This advanced solution is perfectly suited for the transition from traditional contribution and distribution approaches to IP, offering EPTV the necessary quality, flexibility and scalability to meet its current demands and future growth."
The project includes a 5-year warranty agreement with technical support in Brazil provided by Avicom and MediaKind. Support services for the project will be provided by MediaKind's business partner, Avicom Engenharia.
