Mexico. The Federal Institute of Telecommunications, IFT, launched a system by which informative notices will be sent to operators of telecommunications and broadcasting services on the beginning of their respective legal period to request extensions of validity of their concession titles.
In accordance with the provisions of the Federal Telecommunications and Broadcasting Law and other applicable regulations, holders of concessions and authorizations in telecommunications and broadcasting must request the extension of their respective titles within the year prior to the beginning of the last fifth part of the term of validity, so with this new functionality, the IFT will provide timely information to operators for compliance with the deadlines established by law for carrying out said procedure.
The messages sent by the System are created in an automated manner with the information that works in the official databases of the Public Registry of Concessions (RPC), which allows the calculation of the period to submit the extension request, in this way it generates and sends an informative notice at the beginning of the period and subsequent reminders in addition.
These messages can be delivered by email to the more than 2,700 legal representatives who are registered in the IFT Electronic Window, so that, if it is of their interest, they can submit the corresponding request, by this remote route or, if they prefer, physically in the Official Office of Parties of the Institute.
It is a tool for informational purposes only, which has the purpose of guiding the concessionaire to submit the extension request in a timely manner. For this reason, the message received by the interested parties does not create, modify or extinguish rights, nor does it establish obligations, nor does it constitute an act of authority or determination of the Institute; Therefore, they do not replace the request for extension whose responsibility corresponds to the concessionaire within the deadlines and terms established in the applicable regulatory framework.
The use of this type of automated tools will allow achieving greater efficiencies in the attention of the procedures and services that the Institute has and facilitate compliance with the regulatory obligations of concessionaires and authorized in the telecommunications and broadcasting sectors with a sensitive vision to the needs of the industry by an electronic administration.
