"The market had a notorious revival"

telvicom, carlos anciburo,

Peru. 2023 is a special year for Telvicom. It celebrates 25 years of operations in the Peruvian market and continues to lead in the broadcast area. TVyVideo+Radio spoke with Carlos Anciburo, General Manager of the company, who told his expectations for this celebration and the year ahead.

"We can say without fear of being wrong that during this time we have had an important participation in all the transcendent technological projects in Peruvian television," he also recalled that in this positive panorama comes from 2022, the year in which commercial results exceeded expectations, because the market had a notorious reactivation.

Among the projects, several recent success stories stand out, such as, for example, the implementation of Phase 3 of DTT (Digital Terrestrial Television) in Peru, the end-to-end equipment of a new television studio for a TV channel, the complete renovation of the digital transmission platform of a TV station and also continue with the most relevant market share in the sale of studio cameras, with about 90% of the market.

On the technologies that most arouse interest to the Peruvian broadcast industry, he pointed out some such as streaming, virtual reality (VR), cloud, IP, artificial intelligence (AI). IoT and 5G. "Some are already being implemented gradually because, as the offer is varied, end users generally take a waiting time to know which are the most popular in the region and, above all, to know the proven benefits of these applications."

Carlos Anciburo mentioned that in 2022 there was a significant lack of products, mainly due to their low availability, which affected a significant number of manufacturers, many of them leaders in the industry and this fact caused the development of business to be very slow.

"According to the information to which we have had access, in the current year 2023 a similar situation will also arise, but that must be progressively improved until reaching the normal times of pre-pandemic, which is what we all want," he said.

Finally, the General Manager of Telvicom pointed out that "Taking into account that in this year 2023 already free of the restrictions due to the pandemic added to the fact that the 100 years of the NAB will be celebrated, we expect a great turnout of both exhibitors showing their new technologies, as well as attendees because tickets to Las Vegas are very requested and many hotels have little availability of rooms".
