Ecuador. Since 1998, the Ecuadorian company Advicom provides solutions for the telecommunications, broadcasting and television markets, being specialists in the development of "turnkey" projects, since a single provider performs the total integration of systems and support, guaranteeing optimal results.
TVyVideo+Radio spoke with Paul Rojas, president of Advicom, who said that the current outlook for the industry in Ecuador is slow, because the recovery after the pandemic has taken longer than expected.
"In Ecuador, the Broadcasting area closed 2022 down. With a high recession, TV channels are investing less and less in their RF infrastructure. It has not recovered post-pandemic, there is a low investment, "he said.
To this panorama, the shortage of equipment due to low availability from the factories that continues to affect today. Paul Rojas commented that the Ecuadorian market "did affect it and this delivery time problem continues. There are manufacturers of FM transmitters with a minimum delivery time of 4 or 5 months. In general, the entire equipment market has been affected and this situation continues."
Additionally, the dynamics of adoption in new technologies in Ecuador for broadcasting is very slow. "We have laws and their regulations that prevent that. We want to keep broadcast as an old service with low audience in the face of the dynamic changes that have telecommunications and mobile cellular, which has network neutralities and try to venture into the broadcast market. "
That is why, for him, this centennial version of NAB Show is important, because his greatest interest is to identify new business models for broadcast technology integrators, because the purchase and sale of equipment is no longer as before, affected by delivery times and low margins that occur.
Despite this panorama, Paul Rojas is positive for 2023. It expects to have a growth close to 20% in turnover compared to other years, mainly marked by telecommunications services, which have grown during and after the pandemic, with Internet connection through GPON fiber optics. In addition, he advocates a new regulation for broadcasting, a sector that in Ecuador is highly regulated.
