Peru. Between January and July of this year, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, MTC, has imposed 13 fines equivalent to S/ 1'730,750 (about US$445,000) for the provision and use of frequencies of the broadcasting service without the authorization of the entity.
These fines are classified as very serious infractions. Deputy Minister Tito Chura mentioned that in July alone, 11 operations were carried out that allowed the closure of clandestine broadcasting stations in districts of the northern area of Lima and in localities in the San Martín region.
He explained that, through the General Directorate of Inspections and Sanctions in Communications, it was possible to intervene 11 illegal stations in Puente Piedra, Carabayllo, Ate and Barranca (Lima), as well as in the towns of Juanjuí and Alonso de Alvarado (San Martín Region).
The operations allowed to disable 117 telecommunications equipment composed of three transmitters, three antennas (spiral dipole), computers, satellite receivers and decoders, among others.
The illegal stations intervened are:
· Radio la Titular (96.4 MHz) – Puente Piedra.
· Radio Antenna One (95.2 MHz) – Puente Piedra.
· Radio la Única (94.5 MHz) – Carabayllo
· Radio 96.9 MHz (96.9 MHz) – Ate.
· Radio 94.1 MHz (94.1 MHz) – Ate.
· Radio Maxi Mix (107.9 MHz) – Pativilca, Barranca.
· Telecommunications Iris – Pativilca, Barranca.
· Roger Jaime Espinoza Tarazona – Pativilca, Barranca.
· Radio Stereo (97.1 MHz) – Juanjuí; Saint Martin.
· Radio Candela (95.9 MHz) – Juanjuí, San Martín.
· Connection and Direct TV S.A.C. – Alonso de Alvarado, Lamas, San Martín.
