MinTIC provided resources to promote audiovisual production

Colombia. The Jorge Eliécer Gaitán Municipal Theater was the stage in which the audiovisual talent of Colombia was awarded, who actively participated in the calls created to strengthen the audiovisual sector and give visibility to Colombian productions.

"We reward the winners of Abre Cámara, Grandes Historias and La Colombia que Soñamos, calls that have shown us the audiovisual talent we have in the country and have exposed a new face of Colombia from the regions. On this occasion, with the three calls, we delivered $30,691 million (about US$8.1 million) to promote the development of 1,132 audiovisual content that will continue to raise the name and talent of the country, "said Minister Carmen Ligia Valderrama Rojas.

Through Abre Cámara, MinTIC delivered 24,466 million to support the production of projects between series, miniseries and unitary content produced, among others, by regional MSMEs, non-profit television operators, community, older adults, women, ethnic groups and black, Afro, Raizales and Palenqueros population (NARP).

There were 82 projects that were chosen to receive the stimuli, of these, 31 were initiatives of Bogotá; Antioquia and Santander had 8, Valle del Cauca 6; Cauca 5, Cesar 4, Atlántico 3; Boyacá, Caldas, Chocó, Nariño, Risaralda, San Andrés and Tolima had two projects chosen, each, and finally Huila, Magdalena and Quindío resulted in an award-winning initiative.

For its part, for Great Stories, 3,600 million were given to 300 winners. In this way, the production of fictional stories was promoted through the use of mobile devices or traditional cinematographic cameras.

The audiovisual professionals selected this year belong to 19 departments: Antioquia (18) leading, and followed by Atlántico (4), Bolívar (18), Boyacá (6), Caldas (2), Casanare (1), Cesar (1), Chocó (2), Cundinamarca (195), Huila (3), Magdalena (4), Meta (12), Nariño (2), Norte de Santander (2), Risaralda (11), Santander (5), Sucre (2), Tolima (4), Valle del Cauca (8).

The awards gala also recognized the talent of 750 beneficiaries from San Andrés, Sincelejo, Santa Marta, Quibdó, Armenia, Bucaramanga, Yopal, Popayán, Florencia and Pasto, who were awarded through the call La Colombia que Soñamos. They showed from their region what the country in which they dream of living is like. For this, there was an investment of 2,625 million.

"Today we have a strengthened audiovisual industry. Our commitment to the Colombian audiovisual industry has been from the first moment we began to manage the resources of public television, with the implementation of the ICT Modernization Law, therefore, we have developed various audiovisual calls with which we have delivered about $ 88,000 million between 2020 and 2021, for the production of 1,500 audiovisual projects throughout the country and we hope to continue supporting them to improve the quality of everyone's life," added the Deputy Minister of Connectivity, María del Rosario Oviedo Rojas.
