NAB. In April, the television and radio industries will once again have their annual appointment at NAB Show, a fair in which the trends that will be protagonists in the coming months will be known. From the pre-show announcements, it can be predicted that the focus will be on developments for 4K, IP, cloud and multi-visualization.
For four days, april 13-16, the three pavilions at the Las Vegas Convention Center will allow industry professionals from around the world to live hands-on experiences with emerging technologies and the latest innovations.
But audiovisual production is no longer an exclusive subject of television and film. Different sectors have gained ground and are also looking to NAB for professional technologies for their areas. These include places of worship, education, government, military, security, sports and advertising.
In 2015 the fair will offer new spaces that are sure to attract the attention of visitors. Connected Media is the name given to the space dedicated to IP technology, which will be focused on the consumer experience. And as drones are all the rage, there will be a Drone Pavilion, with a fully enclosed "flight cage" for displays of these products.
The new media will also have their space, aimed at hosting celebrity bloggers, podcasters and creators of digital content; Sprockit will be the place where market-ready startups will present their new ideas; and Studio Xperience, will be a live studio that will demonstrate how the latest tools work.
From the manufacturers
Every year at NAB manufacturers prepare the most important launches of their technological developments. For example, Panasonic will showcase various solutions for 4K, TV content creation and remotely IP-operated productions. In addition to improvements to its Varicam and AJ-PX270 cameras. Another focus will be on the remote solutions on offer, including the AW-HE40 camera for indoor use that has a 30x optical zoom, and supports PoE+.
At its booth, Sony will materialize its concept of Beyond Definition, which they define as a declaration of independence of formats and resolutions, with products that can do it all - SD / HD, 2D / 3D, 2K, 4K, MPEG or XAVC. In addition, they are expanding into other markets that require high-quality video, such as education, businesses, and places of worship, with large-scale solutions for content production, workflow, and media management.
For its part, Grass Valley will focus its participation in NAB in three areas: IP, 4K and the cloud, under the concept: the future is now. The exhibition will feature live demonstrations and presentations that will answer questions about how to be more efficient and how to generate a migration strategy to IP. Sports will also have a special focus with the first 4K camera designed specifically for this segment and live production.
Broadcast Depot will introduce one of the latest trends for radio, integration with video. The Avra system: Audio and Video for Radio, which for 2015 brings several updates and will be presented during the show. They will also showcase product innovations from the Telos Alliance group, which includes Telos, Omnia, Axia, Linear Acoustic and 25-Seven, such as low-power RVR transmitters, LiveU satellite and IP solutions for remote transmissions and, finally, a master control for television from Axel Technology, which allows integration with social networks.
Megatrax will take advantage of the 2015 version of NAB to promote its main products: 14 catalogs or music libraries that today exist under license in the United States and Latin America, will highlight the division that is responsible for producing packages to order and / or produced by special request and will present the assistant for the Latin American market based in the main office of Megatrax, Leo Salazar, who will meet the general needs of this market and in turn will concentrate his activities on the development of the audiovisual market in Latam.
305 Broadcast has stood out for offering equipment for the radio area, but this year they are launching the new line of products for the television industry. For now, they have several recognized brands and a team of engineers trained to design and prepare the configuration required by the client. Within the framework of NAB, it will present the new video and TV transmitter division of Itelco, a company recently acquired by Elenos.
Special sessions
Within the framework of the fair, there are many events that take place, both in the convention center and in its surroundings. This year there will be an important participation of people who participated in outstanding film and television productions.
The team of the series "The Walking Dead" will be on NAB Show, to participate in the general session "More than they long for: The world of 'The Walking Dead', scheduled for Tuesday, April 14 at nine in the morning. The session will provide an insider's perspective on the show's expansive world, while exploring the key elements underpinning the show's continued success in this "golden age" of television.
There will also be the director, writer and producer of the film "Blair Witch Project", Dan Myrick, who will participate in the post-production conferences, on Sunday, April 12 at 10:30 in the morning. He will talk about how film editors can mix traditional cinema with a modern aesthetic and post-production techniques with state-of-the-art technology.
Finally, Sandra Adair, editor of the Oscar-nominated film, "Boyhood", will be present in the framework of the Creative Master Series show, in the session entitled From Dazed to Boyhood: a collaboration of more than 22 years.
Among the activities outside the fair, the company Verimatrix will organize, together with several collaborating companies, a new edition of multi-network Solutions at the Real World Forum, which will take place on April 14 at the Renaissance Hotel, in Las Vegas. The event will bring together several industry experts who will discuss various topics, including the distribution and monetization of UHD/4K services and the connectivity of devices in the "Internet of Things".
Another highlight is Avid Connect, the annual meeting of the Avid Customer Association, which will be held April 10-12. Attendees of this event will be able to connect with professionals in the sector and take advantage of the experts who at Avid develop the company's most popular systems.
