Globo produces more than 50 sporting events with Grass Valley

Brazil. Brazilian media tech Globo has chosen Grass Valley's GV AMPP (Agile Media Processing Platform) to produce and broadcast more than 50 live sports and entertainment events. By 2022, Globo expects to produce more than 200 sports, entertainment and live news events using GV AMPP.

GV AMPP is the first cloud-based SaaS platform to produce live sports, entertainment, and news workflows, helping customers make an easy transition to public, private, or hybrid infrastructure-based workflows.

Over the past two years, Globo evaluated market-available cloud providers and solutions and chose AMPP as its premier cloud-based workflow production platform. "Our goal is to optimize Globo's technological infrastructure and generate new business opportunities through a scalable platform," said Mauricio Felix, Globo's Director of Infrastructure and Security. "It has been a journey of learning and collaboration between Globo and Grass Valley to reach the right maturity of the platform, operating model and business model for our live production events.

GV AMPP has been specifically developed to free media companies from reliance on hardware-based media systems and accelerate their migration to the cloud. This revolutionary platform gives users unprecedented flexibility to turn applications on or off as needed and pay only for the services being used, even in live production environments where timing and low latency are essential.

GV AMPP is central to the GV Media Universe concept, a comprehensive ecosystem of cloud-based tools, services and partners, revolutionizing the way live media is produced. GV AMPP offers cloud-native and cloud-agnostic support for video/audio processing in a variety of cloud-based options (public cloud, private, on-premise data center, or hybrid topologies) giving customers an easy way to free up flexible distributed production workflows, easily and quickly increasing or reducing costs and functions as needed.

"Working with Globo has been beneficial for both companies," says Fernando David, Sales Director for Brazil at Grass Valley. "AMPP has simplified Globo's workflows, creating cost efficiency and giving the customer more flexibility to expand their service offering. In turn, Globo provided us with invaluable feedback that strengthened the platform, ensuring it is ready for large-scale live production applications."
