New Board of Directors for CNTV

cntv

Chile. Last Monday, May 2, the new board of directors of the National Television Council took office. With the arrival of President Faride Zerán, who has been in office since April 11, other prominent personalities from the audiovisual industry, academia and public studies on TV are added.

"Today there is an empowered citizenry that is watching television very attentively. For this reason, to fully fulfill our role in all areas of work of the CNTV, we are strengthening the organization with specialists and widely recognized in their respective fields, "explains President Zerán.

Luis Breull Amador joins as the new Director of Supervision and Supervision of the CNTV. A journalist from the Pontifical Catholic University and a political scientist, he is currently a PhD student at Flacso-Buenos Aires in public media systems. He is an expert researcher in analysis of audiovisual industries, public opinion and content trends on topics such as agenda creation, audience segmentation and media narrative strategies.

In statements on his first day in office, the new Director of Oversight and Supervision, Luis Breull comments that "the country is going through a dynamic period of enormous challenges, especially in the design of a social pact that helps us build the foundations of a harmonious, just, human and dignified coexistence for the coming decades. The means of social communication are above all cultural and social goods at the service of people, therefore, they have the fundamental role in contributing to a better life, independent of the more or less complex contexts that cross as industries or business models."

In the Department of Development of the CNTV who assumes the direction is Daniela Gutiérrez Gagliardi, Lawyer of the Finis Terrae University; Actress from the Pontificia Universidad Católica and Master in Political Communication at the University of Chile. As a researcher, she worked at UNICEF in the project "Children in camps", Unicef Chile and Techo, and at the Fucatel Media Observatory. From October 2014 to date, she served as Executive Secretary of the Association of Film and TV Producers, and in that role, she was Sectoral Advisor to the National Council of Culture and the Arts for two periods.

Regarding the country moment we are experiencing, Daniela Gutiérrez estimates that "the pandemic showed how current open television is: it was the medium where more was used to obtain information and entertainment, especially in the sectors with fewer resources in the country. Despite that, distrust and criticism of the media for the quality of their content is getting stronger. That is, people do not abandon television, but they are not satisfied with its contents. That is an incentive for all of us who join in this new stage of the CNTV," says the new director of development.

The Legal Directorate of the National TV Council is headed by Lorena Donoso Abarca, Lawyer of the University of Chile; Master in Computer Science and Law from the Complutense University of Madrid; Diploma in Distance Education from the University of Québec and Diploma of Advanced Studies in Philosophy of Law from the Complutense University of Madrid. Donoso has also been a researcher at the Media Observatory, Fucatel.

For the lawyer and new legal director, Lorena Donoso, "the National Television Council is more relevant than we think, because a plural and diverse television is at the bases of democratic coexistence, construction of national unity and protection of the rights of the people." Asked about her challenges in office, the lawyer believes that "the biggest challenge is to contribute to the CNTV adjusting to the needs of our time and the time that will correspond to our children, contributing to more and better means of communication for our country."

Meanwhile, Daniza Imaña Kalise, an official of the CNTV takes over the direction of Administration and Finance. Accountant Auditor by profession of the University of Tarapacá de Arica, she worked in the CNTV to date as Head of Finance. She has vast experience in the public sector specifically in the Ministry of Public Works where she was regional director and accounting director.

In the direction of Studies remains its director Dolores Souza, who is part of the institution since 1992. In CNTV Infantil Soledad Suit continues as director.
