Colombia. Within the framework of Colombia 4.0, the Summit of High ICT Authorities of the Americas will be held for the first time, a space to share good practices and create and exchange joint initiatives that maximize benefits, take advantage of opportunities and face the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) in the region.
The Summit will be held on May 5 and will be attended by the ICT High Authorities of the Americas representatives of international organizations such as the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the World Bank, the Andean Community of Nations, CAF - Development Bank of Latin America, the World Economic Forum, the Inter-American Telecommunication Commission, among others, will also be part of the event.
"Holding for the first time the Summit of High ICT Authorities within the framework of Colombia 4.0 not only allows the meeting of these to address cross-cutting issues in the Americas as good practices for closing the digital divide, but also recognize this event as the most important of the Digital Creative Industries and IT in the Americas. This is an opportunity for the exchange of experiences, which are a fundamental input in the strengthening of national digital agendas, allowing to strengthen the existing ties of cooperation between the countries of the region, and particularly, to identify public policies to face the IT challenges of the region, "said the ICT Minister, Carmen Ligia Valderrama Rojas.
Precisely, in the agenda of the Summit, which will be held at the Hilton hotel in Corferias, several topics will be addressed, among which the determining factors to reduce the digital divide in the region, the main challenges to connect rural areas, the steps for the deployment of new technologies in terms of connectivity and how different governments take advantage of new technologies such as AI, Big, IoT, Blockchain, and Machine Learning.
