Latin America. Blackmagic Design unveiled DaVinci Resolve 18, a new version of the program that allows multiple editors, colorists, visual effects artists, and sound engineers to work simultaneously on the same timeline from anywhere in the program.
This update provides support for Blackmagic Cloud, a platform that allows you to host and share projects, as well as a new work dynamic with lower resolution files. It also includes new Solve FX add-ons based on artificial intelligence that work through the DaVinci neural engine, as well as tools that allow editors to save time, conversions of fixed buses to FlexBus in the Fairlight module and dynamized tweaks through the use of the GPU in the Fusion module, among other features.
The beta version can now be downloaded for free from the Blackmagic Design website.
DaVinci Resolve 18 offers a new way to collaborate remotely using cloud work dynamics. Project libraries are hosted in Blackmagic Cloud, so you can work on the same timeline simultaneously with other users from anywhere, while the new Blackmagic Proxy Generator app automatically creates lower-resolution files linked to camera originals to streamline editing dynamics. This release also includes new Resolve FX add-ons, subtitling enhancements, GPU-powered Fusion tweaks, instant template playback, and conversion to FlexBus.
DaVinci Resolve 18's support for Blackmagic Cloud allows you to host project libraries in the cloud (DaVinci Resolve Project Server) to share and collaborate with editors, colorists, visual effects artists, and sound engineers simultaneously from anywhere in the world.
The new Blackmagic Proxy Generator app automatically creates lower resolution files from the camera originals. When you add material to a folder, it is automatically converted to H.264, H.265, or Apple ProRes formats for faster editing. You can move these files to a different directory to work offline.
It only takes one click to toggle between the original camera footage and the proxy files. In addition, DaVinci Resolve can easily find the directory where the files generated by the Blackmagic Proxy Generator application are located and instantly link them with the originals of the multimedia panel. Thanks to this, it is possible to edit the lower resolution images and then link them to the original ones when ætheling.
The company also announced other products, including:
